One of the rich heritage pastimes bequeathed by the British to the Gentry of India was the advent of Pedigreed Dogs and Dog Shows. The South of India Kennel Club under the auspicious of the KCI established at Ooty in 1927 by Col.Fletcher, catered to this need. All those who took their sojourn in the beautiful hill station, participated in the Dog Show, as part of the summer season. The patronage initially, Ex Patriats and Members of Indian Royal Families, finally percolating down to people of more modest means.
